Benefits of seeds
Pumpkin seeds are delicious and are good sources of phosphorus, monounsaturated fats and omega-6 fats. Pumpkin seeds may help improve heart health and symptoms of urinary disorders. Studies show that they are also good for prostate health.
Sunflower seeds contain a good amount of protein, monounsaturated fats and vitamin E. Sunflower seeds contain high levels of both monounsaturated and omega-6 fats, and may help reduce inflammation and cholesterol levels.
Flaxseeds, also known as linseeds, are a great source of fiber and omega-3 fats, particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).Flaxseeds are an excellent source of fiber, omega-3 fats, lignans and other nutrients. However, they are difficult to digest whole so it is best to grind them up before consuming.
Sesame seeds are a great source of lignans, which may help balance the female hormones naturally. Sesame seeds may also help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.
These crackers are crafted based on the Naturopathic remedy of 'Seed Cycling' for balancing hormonal health. Each pack of crackers contains two tablespoons of nutritious seeds.
How does Seed Cycling work?
In a regular cycle, during the follicular phase (Day 1-14, begins on the first day of the period), the hormone estrogen is low at the beginning which steadily increases to prepare the body for ovulation by ripening the ovaries. Just before ovulation the levels of FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and Luteinizing hormone (LH) increases, and estrogen level drops right after ovulation. In this phase, consumption of pumpkin seeds + flax seeds helps balance out the estrogen levels.
The Luteal phase (Day 15-28, begins right after ovulation) starts when the egg is released from the ovaries. The level of progesterone and estrogen increases slowly to support the body for conception and implantation of the baby. Hormones drop again if there is no implantation and as a result, the uterus lining sheds - aka menstruation or bleeding. In this phase, consumption of sunflower seeds + sesame seeds lower estrogen levels and promote progesterone naturally.
